Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

You censor in the interests of Russia. On the site that you specified the pictures are posted with Ukrainian signatures, and I posted it with signatures in English. So this is a new file and you do not have any right to delete it.--Magistrvp (talk) 16:28, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Oleh Hut, 2019.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:25th Airborne brigade armored vehicles, spring 2014.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Hi 廣九直通車,
I believe the user NewPolice, the uploader and presumably the author of the image, might be inactive in wiki. It seems he/she was connected to Ukrainian police since images have an insider nature to some extent. What is the actual reason for deletion? Do you have any evidence the image was uploaded violating someones copyright, or they were published before? --VoidWanderer (talk) 19:35, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@VoidWanderer: One can see the images contains a string starting with "FBMD" (FBMD01000a9c0...), which means that the file is originally published on Facebook. So the files are very likely to be downloaded from some Facebook pages and uploaded to Commons, and I tagged them with NPD. Though if you feel the necessity of opening a deletion request, please feel free to do so, thanks.廣九直通車 (talk) 02:26, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I see. It's an argument, I haven't noticed the "FBMD" before. Ok then, if the original uploader will not respond and not explain the situation, files should be probably deleted. --VoidWanderer (talk) 22:32, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. Do you mind, if I crop this picture a bit, to expose the vehicle better and remove most of people on the left? Pibwl (talk) 17:40, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Pibwl,
You can use Commons:CropTool to make a crop and upload the result as another image. Very handy tool, I use it frequently.
I don't like the crowd on the photo too, but I doubt the picture can be improved by cropping them. It's just not a very good picture. --VoidWanderer (talk) 12:23, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Actually it's not bad. I know, that it is difficult to take a good photo at military fair, without crowd :) (I'm specializing in Category:International Defence Industry Exhibition, Poland). CropTool is great tool indeed - but when background is not important, I prefer just to overwrite, that's why I'm asking. Pibwl (talk) 12:32, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Category:International Defence Industry Exhibition, Poland — good job! --VoidWanderer (talk) 15:21, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks. In recent years I was however too lazy to take as many photos, as I could have made :) I cropped your original picture, it looks pretty good. Pibwl (talk) 18:40, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi VW,

which tank is on your photo?--Ashton Bingham (talk) 19:17, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I believe it's a T-64BV. There was a useful infographics posted recently:
PS. The photo in question isn't mine, I've just uploaded it. --VoidWanderer (talk) 12:13, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi Missvain,
What seems to be the problem? I've posted my image under {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} license. --VoidWanderer (talk) 15:07, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi. Please follow the instructions above to prove that you are indeed the copyright holder of the photograph or that you have the rights from the copyright holder (the person who photographed the subject) to upload it to Commons. This is procedure and a legal formality to ensure we do not violate copyrights and enter into a legal situation with the true copyright holder. If it you are indeed the copyright holder, you probably understand how often people take content off social lmedia and websites and use them without permission. It shouldn't take you too long to send in a letter per the instruction above. Thank you so much. Missvain (talk) 21:48, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Missvain, following Commons:But it's my own work!, its paragraph 4 redirected me to Commons:Volunteer Response Team. The only applicable paragraph there is When contacting VRT is unnecessary: I created the file myself, it hasn't been previously published, and I am the sole owner of its copyright, which leaves no instructions.
So whom should I contact exactly? --VoidWanderer (talk) 22:08, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@VoidWanderer: Section 2.1 applies: "The file is my own work, and it has not been previously published on another website. There are a variety of reasons why someone might nominate such an image for deletion: ... The image is of low resolution (e.g. below 4 MP) and/or the EXIF metadata either is missing or indicates it was downloaded from Facebook/Instagram/Messenger." The appropriate action for you to take is thus described: "To allay these suspicions, you can upload the original, unedited, uncropped file with full EXIF metadata attached." -- King of ♥ 23:44, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm from Ukraine and currently I don't have access for my pictures' sources. I've replied here Revision #671809044, where I proposed to check my other images, or to check the image was uploaded on Wikipedia on the same date the event happened. --VoidWanderer (talk) 08:27, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This section has been moved to Category talk:Tracking

Hello! I noticed you renamed this category. The issue is that the tracking it deals with can be more than simply imaging or technology, and might including IR heat, radar, even human eyeballs. I would suggest something a little more broad, such as Category:Tracking (positioning) or something similar. Thoughts? Huntster (t @ c) 14:04, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
