msm blood donation map[edit]

hey! could you update File:MSM Blood Donation Map New.svg to make belgium yellow based on the new guidelines? thx mountainhead / ? 12:25, 16 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mountainhead: do you perhaps have a source for me on the new guidelines? The only one I could find was this article (a reference in en:Men who have sex with men blood donor controversy), but according to Google Translate that only talks about future plans to change the legislation. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:17, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hybridization of AC/DC and VisualFileChange[edit]

It'll be great to take file selection functionality from MediaWiki:Gadget-VisualFileChange.js. Or may be, even better, to merge AC/DC into it, so VisualFileChange would operated with textual descriptions and structured data. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 01:59, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@EugeneZelenko: This is already being discussed at Help talk:Gadget-ACDC#Visual file selection. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 21:12, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
File:Oakridge's clarice phelps.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Interface administrator[edit]

Welcome! Please use this broom responsibly ;)

Hi Lucas,
as you might have already noticed, I added you to the interface administrator user group a couple of minutes ago. We haven't got an automated welcome template with all those helpful links, so you'll have to do with this manual message and a wooden broom ;) Thank you for your work and congratulations! odder (talk) 08:51, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Berliner Philharmoniker[edit]

Dazu würde ich gern die Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn aufteilen in Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Dalal, 2010) und Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Marketvitch, 1958).

--Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 21:30, 14 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, ähm, danke ;-) --Gnom (talk) 21:33, 14 November 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
File:Haydn - The Creation (Dalal) - 1 The Representation of Chaos.oga|-Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn|+Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Dalal, 2010)
...
File:Joseph Haydn - Die Schöpfung - 01. Einleitung (Igor Markevitch, Berliner Philharmoniker, 1958).ogg|-Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn|+Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Marketvitch, 1958)
...

Hi Lucas Werkmeister, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited MediaWiki:Gadget-fastcci.js. Thank you for caring about Wikimedia Commons's javascript pages.
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine.
  1. ISSUE: line 227 character 19: Duplicate key 'it'. - Evidence: it: 'migliori video',

Kein AC/DC-Link[edit]

Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 15:44, 1 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Raymond 15:30, 1 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Lucas Werkmeister: Vielen Dank für die Fehlerbeseitigung. Das Programm funktioniert (im Moment) korrekt.

@Milicevic01 That’s alright, I just meant it as a message to other admins (“why didn’t Lucas fulfill this edit request?”). Sorry if that was confusing. I hope someone will find the edit request soon (via the category). Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Can you check this edit request. Thanks बडा काजी (talk) 10:42, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I’m afraid I can’t fulfill this edit request by myself, but I’ve posted a relevant proposal: Allow interface administrators to set the content model (permalink). Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 18:51, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Assistance requested[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for your help at Template:PD-USGov-Military, it’s much appreciated! I added an archived link to show where the old seal originated from. I do have another request: I am trying to update Template:PD-USGov-USDA’s logo to the agency’s seal to match all of the other US Cabinet agencies but can’t figure out the template. Do you know how and if so, can you explain it to me, please?

I’m tempted to update it (along with a majority of the PD-USGov templates) to match Template:PD-USGov-HHS’s layout as most of the templates haven’t been updated since 2009 or 2010 and it’s much easier for template editors/admin to edit should they need to. What’s your thoughts? Should I discuss is somewhere before making the layout changes? Thanks, Corky 06:10, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Corkythehornetfan Probably worth bringing it up somewhere but I have no idea where would be the right place, to be honest. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:03, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sounds good, I'll ask an admin! Thanks! Corky 00:59, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Need your input on a policy impacting gadgets and UserJS[edit]

Dear interface administrator,

This is Samuel from the Security team and I hope my message finds you well.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.

Have a great day!

Samuel (WMF), on behalf of the Foundation's Security team 23:02, 7 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Gadget updaten[edit]

How to deal with seemingly unused gadgets needing an update (technical Village pump). — Speravir – 01:05, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

✓ Done Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:43, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nur kurz: Danke! Geht wieder bestens. — Speravir – 23:13, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

yes, thumb up. — Speravir – 21:38, 23 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello Lucas - I'm writing because you edited this template recently. Is there any chance that you can action this request to remove the requirement for a publication date? That wording was introduced without being specifically discussed years ago, and no Commons admins have taken action despite various attempts to draw attention to it. Thank you. AC/DC[edit]

I have been playing with AC/DC and found a category with over 2,000 entries (Category:British Rail Class 43s of Great Western Railway (First Group)) AC/DC does not like this very much. It has to load every image before I get the depicts box. On Safari it has been loading the category for about an hour now. I closed the box, loaded it again and now it is frozen. No contributions are happening on my account.

Last night I set it running and it stopped with an error. When it restarted it didn't do anything. I know this is not a good error report but if you play with AC/DC on the massive category you'll see what I mean. Secretlondon (talk) 14:24, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And now AC/DC has gone from my commons toolbar so maybe I killed it ;) Secretlondon (talk) 14:28, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Secretlondon: Well, I just updated the code, but there shouldn’t have been any changes – which browser are you using? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 14:29, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Safari on OSX 12.6 Secretlondon (talk) 15:43, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I’ve reverted my changes, it turns out they broke the gadget in general (I guess when I tested it immediately after saving, the old code was still cached). Sorry about that. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 16:14, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Secretlondon: I think I’ve managed to fix the problem properly – does it work for you now? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 16:26, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
it works now - thank you. Secretlondon (talk) 16:34, 8 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Secretlondon: And anyways, regarding your initial question… I don’t think I have a better answer than “thousands of files is well beyond the intended use case for this gadget”, sorry :/ Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 18:32, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If it does it again would a detailed error and behaviour be useful anyway? Secretlondon (talk) 19:06, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sure, I guess… I wouldn’t really expect any outright errors, I would just expect it to become unusably slow. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:16, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
